Vet Holding a Guinea Pig

Companion and Exotic Vet needed

We are looking for an additional vet to join our 17-month-old thriving independent first opinion companion and exotic referral practice in Cwmbran, South Wales. We are proud to be one of two independent practices in the area, the rest being corporates.

We have a close-knit, experienced team of staff that will always provide a friendly and supportive environment whilst you take the next step in your career. You will be working alongside an Advanced Practitioner in Zoological medicine. So, Ideally, we are looking for someone with an interest in exotic medicine. We are also a nurse training practice.  We treat companion animals as well as exotics and some small zoo collections.

Our current premises started as a recently refurbished GP medical facility which we have transformed into a modern vet practice. We even have a few of our own permanent pets, some with scales and some with tails!

We are very proud of our facilities which include:

  • DR x-ray - we are also trialling on-site Artificial Intelligence radiograph interpretation.

  • Access to Vet CT for radiographic support.

  • Storz rigid endoscopy.

  • Ultrasound.

  • Full in-house lab including Zoetis Imagyst (Faecal analysis, AI blood smears, in-house cytology with pathology report in 1-2 hrs).

  • Equipment for orthopaedic surgeries, including MMP cruciate repairs.

If you’re looking to develop your skills in exotics or gain another certificate, this will be fully supported. We have the facilities and are looking to grow in different disciplines.

Surgical rotas are shared and I believe that all vets should have the option to follow their cases from assessment/admission through to surgery and onto discharge/follow up, enabling client continuity and enabling you to build a portfolio you can be proud of.

If you’ve read this far you'll probably want to know the shift pattern?

The weekly rota is negotiable.

Full and part time considered.

Normal working hours are:

Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00

(We recognise the importance of work-life balance and switching off at 17:00 to enjoy home/family time).

Weekends - currently closed

(There is scope to open (9-12) on a Saturday, however this would be worked as a rolling rota.

Bank holidays - closed
